ChordTake Privacy Policy
ChordTake is a MIDI chord capture and export app. MIDI input, chord pads, Rewind captures, Takes, editor settings, and MIDI file import/export are processed locally on your device. We do not require an account and do not operate a server that receives your MIDI files or chord data.
1. Who We Are
ChordTake is provided by the app developer listed for the app in Apple App Store Connect. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to that app developer.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not collect your name, phone number, contacts, photos, health data, precise location, or microphone recordings.
- We do not upload your MIDI files, imported files, exported files, Takes, pad presses, or Rewind captures to our servers.
- We do not sell your personal information.
3. Local MIDI, Audio, and File Processing
- MIDI and pad input: ChordTake processes chord pad events and supported MIDI input locally to build a recent foreground capture buffer and Takes.
- Bluetooth and USB MIDI: If you connect MIDI devices, the app scans available MIDI endpoints and processes incoming MIDI messages locally for capture and editing.
- Audio preview: ChordTake can generate local preview sounds so you can hear chord pads and Takes. The app does not record microphone audio.
- File import: When you choose a .mid or .midi file from Files, the app reads the selected file locally to create an internal raw MIDI snapshot. The source file is not modified by ChordTake.
- File export: Exported MIDI files are generated on your device and shared or saved only when you choose to export or share them.
4. Local App Data
ChordTake may store local data on your device, including Takes, raw MIDI snapshots, cleaned edit settings, pad bank settings, export preferences, contextual tip state, trial/export allowance state, and purchase entitlement state. This data is stored in the app's local sandbox, UserDefaults, or local files managed by iOS.
You can delete local ChordTake data from the app's Settings screen where available, or by deleting the app from your device. StoreKit purchase records are handled by Apple and are not deleted by clearing local app data.
5. Analytics Preference
ChordTake includes an anonymous analytics preference in Settings. The current app build does not operate a developer analytics server or upload your MIDI content, Takes, imported files, exported files, or pad performance data to us. If analytics features are added in a future version, they will be designed to respect this preference and this policy will be updated as needed.
6. In-App Purchases
ChordTake may offer a one-time Lifetime purchase to unlock advanced export features. Purchases, billing, taxes, refunds, and payment information are handled by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your credit card information.
7. Third-Party Services
ChordTake uses Apple platform services such as the App Store, StoreKit, Files, CoreMIDI, Bluetooth MIDI, local audio frameworks, and optional system share sheets. Apple may process information according to Apple's privacy policy and the settings on your device. Share targets and destination apps may handle exported files under their own policies after you choose to share files with them.
8. Children
ChordTake is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us.
9. International Transfers
Because ChordTake is designed for local processing, we do not operate a server that receives your MIDI files or Takes. Apple and any third-party services you choose to use, such as App Store services or share targets, may process information in other countries or regions under their own terms and policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app, platform services, or legal requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
